Can you get a 2020 RAM 1500 with a diesel?
The RAM 1500 is an amazing truck, and the 2020 model is better than ever before. But can you get a 2020 RAM 1500 with a diesel? You certainly can! The 2020 RAM is now available with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 and we will go through all the performance specs and more.
How powerful is the 2020 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel?
The max power for the 2020 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is 260 horsepower. That may not seem like a lot, but to the uninitiated, the real power of diesel comes in the torque department where this engine produces up to 480 pound-feet of torque.
Another key factor of a diesel engine is how quickly that torque becomes available. For this EcoDiesel engine, you get all 480 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 RPM. That’s just a shade above idle, meaning this engine has real grunt behind it.
How much can the 2020 RAM 1500 tow with an EcoDiesel?
That grunt doesn’t mean anything if it doesn’t have the towing numbers to back it up, and here you do not have to worry. This diesel engine gives the 2020 RAM 1500 up to 12,560 pounds of towing capacity. This is just shy of the 12,750 pounds of max towing capacity that this truck can claim in other configurations.
What trims is the EcoDiesel available on?
For most vehicles, when people hear about new desirable engine options, they might have to stifle a groan. Inevitably, this new engine option will only be available on higher trims with a much higher price tag. This is a RAM though, and that is not the case here. Instead, the new EcoDiesel engine is available on all trims of the 2020 RAM 1500. This even includes the RAM Rebel for the first time!

However, it does come with a bit of a premium over every trims price. Just like if you were to opt for the V8 engine, you will have to pay a little more for the EcoDiesel. Luckily, it only adds $4,995 to the MSRP. In other words, the starting MSRP for a 2020 RAM 1500 with an EcoDiesel engine is just $36,890.
