Just because Jeep has carved out its niche in the automotive industry by dominating the off-road space doesn’t mean it hasn’t been ready to respond to changing trends. The Jeep Renegade takes the manufacturer’s long history of building highly capable vehicles and applying those lessons to a compact crossover SUV. A comparison between the 2020 Jeep Renegade vs. 2020 Kia Soul will help potential buyers find the perfect vehicle to meet their needs. For the new model year, the 2020 Renegade will make more features available on more of the lower trim grades and the promise of a smartphone application that will work with all models. The new app will be available later in the vehicle’s production cycle.

If someone is trying to choose between the 2020 Jeep Renegade and the 2020 Kia Soul, they will have to make some trade-offs on both sides of the equation. Both crossover SUVs are outfitted with two rows of comfortable seating that can hold up to five passengers. When there are people sitting in the rear of the 2020 Renegade, there will still be 18.5 cubic-feet of cargo volume to use and folding the rear seat down will expand that space to 50.8 cubic-feet.
The 2020 Kia Soul will offer a bit more cargo volume in both configurations. However, a properly equipped 2020 Renegade can tow up to 2,000 pounds. Kia doesn’t list any towing specifications for the 2020 Soul. In fact, Kia expressly says in the Soul’s owner’s manual that the vehicle should not be used for towing.
Like the rest of the Jeep lineup available at Albany CDJR, the 2020 Renegade can be equipped with the automaker’s rough-and-tumble four-wheel-drive system. The 2020 Kia Soul doesn’t even offer all-wheel-drive.
Potential owners of the 2020 Jeep Renegade will have two engine options to consider. The base powertrain is a turbocharged 1.3-liter, four-cylinder engine making 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. Renegade owners can also have a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood that will produce 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Both power plants will be attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission and can offer front- or four-wheel-drive. Most versions of the 2020 Kia Soul will use a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that will make 147 horsepower. A turbocharged four-cylinder Kia engine is also available.
